Assamese cinema has done a remarkable work in couple of years. It was the sad moment when the Assamese film industry was sinking down. In couple of years producers were able to release quite a good cinema in quantity. This is a new beginning to the Assamese Film Industry.
It amazed to know that some of the Assamese cinema has been successful in the box office and made the way to Film festival in the country and abroad.
Recently and Assamese feature film Othello under the banner of Artha Films has won the 62nd National Film Award 2015 in the category of Best Assamese Film.
The film has also won the award for the best screenplay award in the Indian Cine Film Festival -14 held in Mumbai. The best jury award at the recently held Noida International Film Festival. The film was screened at the Indian Panaroma section in the International Film Festival of India in Goa in Nov 2014. Othello was selected in 'Indian Showcase' Jagran Film Festival Mumbai with 24 other Indian Films.
Othello was produced by Mr. Manabendra Adhikari, written and screenplay Ranjit Sharma. Director Hemanta Kumar Das with the star cast Arun Nath, Arup Baishya, Runu Devi and Jupitora Bhuiyan in the lead.
